Close to Crete where we are staying is the village of Cortona, made famous by Frances Mayes book ‘ Under the Tuscan sun’ As is typical of the Tuscan villages set on a hill to watch for the approaching enemy. Most of them completely walled so they can protect their villages.
We thought we were quite smart today finding a carpark right outside the walled village, only to return to find a Eur41.00 (NZD50) parking ticket. Buggar !!
Again a cloudy sort of day. One for bunking down underground for pizza.!!
