Cortona Tuscany

Close to Crete where we are staying is the village of Cortona, made famous by Frances Mayes book ‘ Under the Tuscan sun’ As is typical of the Tuscan villages set on a hill to watch for the approaching enemy. Most of them completely walled so they can protect their villages.GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA
We thought we were quite smart today finding a carpark right outside the walled village, only to return to find a Eur41.00 (NZD50) parking ticket. Buggar !!

Again a cloudy sort of day. One for bunking down underground for pizza.!!

    1. Hi Dan, sorry it has taken so long to reply. You prob have booked something else now. Would highly recommend Villa Rosa dei Venti for accom in Tuscany. Great base to tour back and forward from Villages. Would recommend you stay in either upstairs apartment or seperate cottage due to more natural light and outdoor area in cottage. Wonderful landscaped grounds and pool . Made lifetime friends with couple we met from Finland. Not to mention the wonderful hosts Barbara (Barr-ba-ra) and Stefan. (Brother and Sister) Perfect English. On site Wine and Olive oil to purchase. and their wonderful Parents made us feel very welcome.
Would def return to this paradise. Rgds Nicky
